Lettie Lee Stallings

A longtime resident of Evansville, Indiana and Naples, Florida she was born on March 07, 1926 to Arthur and Mabel Schoo of New Albany, Indiana. On March 20, 1948 she married John Robert “Bob” Stallings, and together they raised their sons, John and Jim, and twins Bruce and Carol.

Lettie Lee attended New Albany High School, Stephens College, and graduated from Purdue University. She and her husband stayed close to their Purdue Kappa Kappa Gamma and Phi Gamma Delta friends throughout their lives, attending over 40 consecutive annual reunions.

While in Evansville, she was active in the Junior League and with the Kappa alumnae association. She and Bob were longtime supporters of both First Presbyterian Church and Eastminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed golf and tennis and was a member of the Evansville Country Club and Tri State Athletic Club. She was a Cub Scout and Brownie Scout leader. Lettie Lee was also a frequent model for area fashion shows, and she designed and sewed many of her own clothes. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, had a wonderful smile and sense of humor, and loved having her home filled with friends and family.

Lettie Lee is survived by her sons James Stallings of St. Petersburg, Florida, Bruce (Katrina) Stallings of Evansville, daughter Carol (James) Stephens of Naples, Florida, and daughter-in-law Anne Stallings of Evansville.

She is survived by twelve grandchildren: Jeremy (Angie) Stallings, Josh (Brittni) Stallings, Jami (Ryan) Miller, Jorden Stallings, Beau (Amber) Brown, AJ Stallings; Kara (Mark) Eldersveld, Paige (Jeff) Pitcock, Connor (Kelsey) Stallings; John Stallings III, Susan (Drew) Strobel, Patty (Ryan) Daywalt.

She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren: Brittany, Christopher, and Noah Stallings; Slater Stallings; Henley and Elliot Miller; Avery and Asher Brown; Evelyn and Henry Eldersveld; Julia and Owen Pitcock; Charles and Emma Strobel; William and Olivia Daywalt.

She was preceded in death by her husband J.R. “Bob” Stallings, and son John R. Stallings Jr.

A private family memorial service will take place on November 02, 2019 at Alexander Funeral home East Chapel with The Reverend Kevin Scott Fleming officiating. A private burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
