Marchelle Diane (Clark) Dersch, 64, wife of Gary Dersch, of Evansville, left her pain behind after a tough fight with cancer on March 12, 2018, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born in Evansville to Claude and Frances Clark on June 19, 1953. She currently worked as a plant operator at Alcoa power plant for over 20 years. She was a member of the Alcoa Fire Department where she received awards recognizing her service to the community during the November 2005 tornado that went through Newburgh. Marchelle also served as Assistant Superintendent of Poultry for Vanderburgh County 4H where she influenced children with her kind and loving heart. She is survived by her father, Claude Clark, Sr., of Tell City; husband, Gary Dersch of Evansville; son, Kent Block, and his wife, Christie, and their son, Brayden, all of Evansville; son, Israel White, and his daughter, Alexis, of Evansville; son, Hunter Dersch, and his girlfriend, Samantha, and his daughter, Adalynn, all of Evansville; daughter, Katelyn “Katie” Dersch and her husband, Matthew Wheeler, and their children, Evan and Braden, all of Evansville; adopted daughter, Kira Clark of Evansville; brother, Claude Clark, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Bremerton, WA; nephew, Benjamin Clark of Evansville; lifelong friend, Richard Morris of Evansville; and loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of long-time friends and “adopted” children. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Marchelle’s personal nurse, Elizabeth Bryan, and the staff at Deaconess Gateway ICU for their support in her final days. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 16, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Kirk Horstmeyer, with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, and Friday from 11:00 AM until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marchelle’s name to Vanderburgh County 4H Goats (Pygmy and Milk), 13301 Darmstadt Rd., Evansville, IN 47725. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderWestChapel.com. Marchelle was known for giving anything and everything she had to anyone and everyone she met, and for having a quick wit and strong sense of humor. She was a mother to all strays, both human and animal. Known by many as “Mama D”, her life revolved around her children and grandchildren whom she nicknamed “her heart and soul”. In Marchelle’s own words to her children, “Just try to remember the good times. The camping and holidays and joys we’ve spent together. Each night when you go to bed, always remember the last three words you heard, and please, dear God, don’t ever forget my love for you. I love you, Mommie. Remember my love.”
