Martha J. "Sug" Steele

Martha J. “Sug” Steele, 85, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Newburgh Healthcare Center. She was born September 8, 1931, in Evansville, IN, to the late Lawrence and Drusie Hamner.

She was a member of VFW 2953 and the Eagles Country Club. Martha was an avid bowler, a member of many leagues, playing multiple times a week. She was a by-hand seamstress and was very crafty. She loved to play bingo and had a knack for remembering names and birthdays.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard “Bud”; sisters, Margaret “Lil Sister”, and Joyce McNelly; brother, Bubber; son-in-law, Randy Mincy; and great-granddaughter, Kelsey.

She is survived by sons, Ric Steele (Betty), Tony Steele (Melva), Tracy Ray Steele; daughters, Kathy Mincy, Charice “Sherry” Brunson; grandchildren, Trevor, Shay, Sharice, Michelle, Randall, Steven, Brandi, Shaleena, Corey (Stephanie), Melanie, Nicholas, Josh, Justin, Tracy Lynn, Brittany; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ben, Ray, J.B., and Steve Hamner; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, July 21, 2017, at Alexander East Chapel with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 2-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
