Mary K. Gist Phillips

She graduated from Central High School in 1945 and retired from Zenith after 35 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at VFW Post 2953 and enjoyed bowling, participating in various leagues.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Phillips, Sr.; grandson, Lee Phillips; great-grandson, Caleb Herron; parents, William and Delia Gist; sisters, Ruth Barchet, Wanda Givens and Mabel Gist; brothers, Bob, Ray, Bill, Joseph and Kenneth Gist; brother-in-law, George Barchet; and sister-in-law, Thelma Gist.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue Adams and Corla Beal; sons, Walter Jr. and William Phillips; sister, Patsy Sproat; brother, James Melvin Gist; grandchildren, William III and Robert Herron, Ryan and Shaun Beal and Steven, Jeffrey and Keeton, Phillips; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her companion dog, Pepper.

Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2012, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
