Melanie (Joyce) Mickens

Melanie was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost at Christ Temple, Marion, IN under the late Bishop W.M. Holder and leadership of Elder David H. Birchett. She was a singer and choir director in her church and called in the ministry. Melanie had a business career as a secretary.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Melanie is survived by her husband, Eric Mickens, Sr. of Pontiac, MI; sons, Eric Mickens, Jr. (Maria) and Armani Mickens; grandchildren, Dawson, Darla Mickens, Ethan Mickens and Emma Mickens all of Pontiac, MI; sisters, Sharon Joyce, Pamela Joyce and Cynthia Joyce all of Evansville, IN; aunt, Verna Rogers, of Evansville, IN; uncle, Earnest Joyce (Paulette) of Madisonville, KY; and a whole host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private family visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave. Evansville, IN 47714. Graveside prayers, and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, officiated by Minister, Gary Rogers.
