Monica graduated from Valparaiso University. She was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. Monica sang with the Evansville Choral Society, Evansville Philharmonic Chorus and Redeemer Adult Choir. She was an avid reader and crossword solver.
Monica was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Sarah Marie Karsten (December 25, 2018).
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth P. Karsten; son, Aaron M. Karsten; granddaughter, Brynn M. Martin; and, brother, John Sauer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 1811 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN, officiated by Rev. Thomas Wenig. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Alexander East Chapel and on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
