Nancy graduated from Deaconess School of Nursing in 1968 and spent most of her career as a dedicated registered nurse. She later earned her real estate and broker’s licenses and enjoyed a few years helping families find their homes. Her love of travel inspired her to attend Evansville’s travel school, after which she worked as a travel agent for several years.
A faithful member of Turning Pointe Church, Nancy helped lead the first ladies’ group and cherished the friendships she built there. In the summer of 1968, she met the love of her life, Gary Wagoner, shortly after he returned from the Marine Corps. The two were married on January 15, 1971, and shared 54 wonderful years together.
Nancy loved reading, especially mysteries and action novels, and found joy in quilting with friends. She enjoyed traveling anywhere, but her favorite destination was Cadiz, KY, at the lake. Above all, Nancy treasured time spent with her family, who brought her endless joy and pride.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Gary; daughters, Anne Spain (Jason) and Alexa Simms (Brad); grandchildren, Luci and Blake Jourdan, Loden Spain and his fiancée Annie Happe, Isaac, Eli, and Anna Simms; great-grandchildren, Everly and Walker Jourdan; sisters, Karen Paulin (Dan) and Brenda Schroeder; and sister-in-law, Joyce Wortz.
