Obituary of Pamela J Flanigan
Pamela Jane (Barton) Flanigan was born August 2, 1950 to Virgil Claude and Cuba Belle (Johnson) Barton in Evansville, Indiana. She was the baby, the youngest of eight children. While attending high school, Pam was a student in the very first computer data entry class in Evansville, Indiana. She graduated from Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana in 1968. Pam went to The Salvation Army School for Officers Training in Chicago, Illinois in the Fall of 1969. She met her future husband in 1970. After three dates, Pam married Lewis Samuel Flanigan on February 4th, 1972 in Arkansas City, Kansas at The Salvation Army. To this union were born: Samuel B. on December 3, 1972 in Charlotte, North Carolina; Evangeline “Angel” Celesta Flanigan-Webb on January 6, 1975 in Kenosha, Wisconsin; and Catherine Cory Jane Allard on April 14, 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia. Pam and Lewis pastored many churches across The United States while serving in The Salvation Army and the United Methodist Church. They retired July 1st, 2016 and moved to Evansville, Indiana. Pam had many loves. She loved God, her family, to laugh, to dance, and to make music. She liked to play games and read. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nephews, nieces, and any one else she called family. Pam was transferred to the Church Triumphant (Promoted to Glory) on August 7th, 2019 from the Linda E. White Hospice House. Pam is survived by her husband, Lewis Flanigan; son, Sam Flanigan of Evansville, Indiana; daughter, Angel Flanigan-Webb of Cedar Falls, IA; daughter Cory (Allan) Allard of Manly, IA; two grandchildren, Evan Webb (Sunny Murphy) and Sami Jane Webb; two great-granddaughters, Bella Rose Murphy and Skylar Joy Webb; three sisters Betty Hodges, Esther Barton, and Bev Lefler; two sister-in-laws, Ruth Barton and Bea Barton; and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pam was preceded in death by her mother and father; two sisters, Bonnie Berniece Windels and Joyce June Huebner; two brothers, Claude “Bud” Barton and Virgil A Barton; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Lefler. Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 10, 2019 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.
