

Surrounded by her family, Paula Simon, 64, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010. She blessed this world on November 12, 1945, in Texas. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, both veterans, Paul and Edith Schmitt.
She had worked for the Office of Social Security and Office of Hearings and Appeals for over 30 years. She was a long-time parishioner of Good Shepherd Catholic Church for 36 years. Paula was a wonderful mother of three and a devoted grandmother of six. She tended beautiful gardens of flowers and cheered loudly at all of her grandson’s baseball games.
Paula is survived by her husband of 36 years, James J. Simon of Evansville; twin sister, Pamela Folz of Evansville; brother, James Anthony Schmitt of Chesterton, IN; sister, Mary Lashbrook of Fort Branch; son, Brian Simon (Kimberly) of Evansville; daughter, Lori Kixmiller (Jared) of Fishers, IN; son, Kevin Simon (Maureen) of Chillicothe, OH; and grandchildren, Shelbi, Mason, and Preston Simon of Evansville, Mallory and Audrey Kixmiller of Fishers, IN, and Hayden Simon of Chillicothe, OH.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 North Stockwell Road, officiated by Fr. Zach Etienne, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 4424 Vogel Road, Evansville, IN 47714.
