Randy Dale Ricketts Sr., 65, of Evansville, IN passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. He was born on July 31, 1960 in Mt. Vernon, IN to Malcom Floyd Ricketts, Sr. and Dorothy Elizabeth (Poole) Ricketts.
Randy was a man who lived life on his own terms. He was hard headed in the best way, strong-willed, and always able to make everyone laugh. He was a "jack-of-all-trades" who would and could build or fix anything with a smile and a creative curse word or two.
He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, which ranged from perfectly timed sarcasm, hilarious true life stories of his random adventures, to an endless supply of contagious energy. He was the kind of man who would wear his shorts with confidence, and out work most men 30 years younger than himself.
But beyond the quirks, he had a heart of gold. He was fiercely helpful, always the first to show up when someone needed a hand. His love for his children and grandchildren was always shown from moving a couch, jump-starting a car, or offering unsolicited, yet surprisingly effective, life advice. He didn't build skyscrapers, but he built a life full of laughter, loyalty, and an understanding that "good enough" was often just that.
Randy is survived by his children, Makiya Johnson, Serena Ricketts, Randy Dale Ricketts Jr., and Nia Ricketts; grandchildren, Serenity Ricketts, Xavier Peek, Zachery Ricketts, Cherish Johnson, Haleigh Ricketts; and great-grandchild, Finn Ricketts; brothers, Malcom “June Bug” Ricketts (Charlotte), and Jeff Ricketts (Carol); sisters, Kathy Neil (Graham), Janet Ricketts, and Lana Williams (Cabell); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcom Floyd Ricketts Sr. and Dorothy Elizabeth (Poole) Ricketts; siblings, Norma Savoie (Bobby), Rinda Bowen, Ronnie Ricketts, Larry Ricketts, and Terry Ricketts.
A celebration of his truly unique life will be held in the future where we will honor his memory by sharing our favorite stories, pictures, videos, nicknames, and tears. May his laughter and love always be in our hearts.
