Bob graduated from Reitz Memorial High School, Notre Dame, and Valparaiso Law School.
He practiced law in Evansville, was Deputy Prosecutor, and then served as Superior Court Judge for 25 years.
As a judge, Bob had the foresight and desire to implement programs to protect and benefit juveniles, such as C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) and the Youth
Care Center. Bob also mandated several procedures aiding youth, including the review of neglected and abused children in and out of home placement, and the systematic destruction of juvenile records for youth adults who successfully rehabilitated their lives.
Away from work, Bob enjoyed boating at Rough River, spending time with family, cards with friends, and weekly lunch with longtime friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Wendell and Helen Lensing.
Bob is survived by his wife Jan (Mattingly) Lensing; son, Bill Lensing, and wife Angie; daughter, Maureen Lensing; grandchildren, Austin, Jacob, Grace, Alyssa, and Hope Lensing; sister, Barbara Cunningham, and husband Jack; and nieces.
Friends and family are welcome to attend mass at 10:00 AM Friday, June 3, 2011, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1328 Lincoln Avenue, officiated by Fr. Ted Tempel and Fr. Gregory Chamberlain, with a private family burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Bob’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses at DaVita Dialysis and Deaconess for their superior care and support.
