Robert Forest Sprinkle

Robert Forest Sprinkle, 76, of Evansville, IN, a cancer survivor of 17 years from lymphoma, has succumbed after 3 years to pancreatic cancer and passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019. I was born at the Ft. Bliss Army Hospital in El Paso, TX on March 28, 1943 where my dad was stationed for a time during WWII. A couple of months later he was shipped to the Pacific Theatre and my mom and I returned to Tell City, IN to live with my mother’s parents until the end of the war. I attended St. Paul’s grade school and graduated from Tell City High School in 1961. I enjoyed those years while playing high school sports, had many close friends as classmates, and still stayed in close contact with many of my classmates and teammates. After spending 1962 working at a furniture factory in Tell City, I then attended Oakland City College for a year. I moved to Evansville, IN and started working in the IT area at Mead Johnson in 1963. During my 36 years of employment, Mead Johnson was a great place to work as they had good benefits and great people to work with. The work environment allowed me to attend night school at the University of Evansville and graduate in 1969. I was preceded in death by my parents, Marshie and Martha Marchand Sprinkle. I am survived by my wife and great partner of 34 years, Lisa Steele Sprinkle; daughters, Bobbi (Jeff) Stanovich (3 children) of Dallas, TX, Julie (Troy) McMurtry (3 children, 1 great GC) of Evansville, IN; son Wes (Jill) Sprinkle (2 children) of Tower Lakes, IL; brothers, Jim (Phyllis) Sprinkle of Lake Mary, FL, Paul (Janis) Sprinkle of Tell City, IN, Dale (Jan) Sprinkle of Tell City, IN, John (Kate) Sprinkle of Apopka, FL and Dan (Melissa) Sprinkle of Rushville, IN; 13 nieces and nephews. I would like to thank my Oncologist, Dr. Tony Stephens and the staff at Oncology/Hematology Assoc. in Evansville, and my Dr.’s and staff at the IU Med Center in Indianapolis, and the nurses and staff at Deaconess VNA Hospice. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Celebrant Carrie Hatchett. Friends may visit 1-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and Sunday 12 p.m. until service time.
