

He was born on February 23, 1927, in Mt. Carmel, IN. He was the son of Charles G. and Mayme Rogers Russell. He married Charlotte Dean on September 11, 1948, in Evansville. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2009.
Roger served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Rietz High School and Evansville College. He received his Master’s degree from the University of Illinois. He worked as a profession engineer in Evansville, IN, Moline and Champaign-Urbana for U.S. Sheet Metal, John Deere, Bishop and Company, the University of Illinois, Clark Dietz and Associates and Huff Engineering.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church where served on various committees and as a deacon. He enjoyed singing and playing the baritone.
Roger was also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Caryl Deen Russell; and his brother, Charles Russell.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Robert) Brown of Champaign, IL and Jennifer (Kevin) Kingston of Bloomington, IL; five grandchildren, Emily (Joseph) Pickell of Mahomet, IL, Kelly (Bob) Arrigo of Los Altos, CA, Lindsey Pavia of St. Louis, MO, Chelsea Kingston of Bethel, CT, and Taylor Kingston of Bloomington, IL; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Molly Pickell of Mahomet, IL; one sister, Iona Krohn of Evansville, IN: one brother-in-law, Lee Russell and one sister-in-law, Lillian Weber of Evansville.
Illinois services will be 6:00 PM Friday, August 13, 2010, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, IL, officiated by Rev. Rich Gregory and Rev. Lee Galbraith. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
Indiana services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel, officiated by Rev. Lee R. Russell with burial to follow. Friends may visit Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church.
