Steve was proud to have served in the US Marine Corps. He was a free spirit, and was very light-hearted and caring. Steve loved being outdoors and hunting. His family was very dear to him, and his great-grandchildren always made him smile. Even though Steve had been ill for a long time, he never let it get in his way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ray, Walter, and Maggie.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Mary J. Vailes; daughters, Amie D. Vailes and Shanna N. Vogel (Derek); son, Steven A. Vailes II; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Larry, Billy, Agatha, Lela, Kathy, Ronnie, and Rodger.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
