
Terry Lee Cook, age 83, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving daughter & son-in-law. He was born on September 21, 1942, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville Indiana, to the late William and June Cook.
A proud graduate of North High School, Class of 1962, Terry lived a life defined by faith, service, integrity, and family. He served the Evansville community with honor and dedication as a member of the Evansville Police Department from 1967 until his retirement in 1988. Following his law enforcement career, Terry continued his commitment to hard work and excellence at Bristol Myers Squibb, where he was employed from 1988 until 1998.
Terry was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where his Christian faith was a steady foundation throughout his life.
Known for his meticulous nature, his structured and organized ways, and his sharp sense of humor, Terry had a “tell it like it is” honesty that everyone who knew him appreciated. Beneath that straightforward personality was a heart of generosity and compassion. He was a faithful supporter of numerous organizations, including the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association, National Rifle Association, AARP, VFW, DAV, FOP Lodge #73, Alliance for Retired Americans, Evansville Rescue Mission, Parkinson’s Foundation, Riley Children’s Hospital, Salvation Army, St. Jude Foundation, National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Terry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Cook; his brother, Donald Cook; sister Carolyn Miller and his parents, William and June Cook.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Teresa Cook-Jackson, and son-in-law, Joe Jackson; his cherished grandson, Derrick Machado; and his loving sister, Debra Eads.
Terry was a proud husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family deeply. Now at peace with God in Heaven, Terry is joyfully reunited with his wife, Helen.
A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave. Evansville, IN 47714. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date at Sunset Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.
