Obituary of Toni White French
Toni White French, 55, our beautiful warrior, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded and loved on by her family at her home in Evansville on Monday, April 5, 2021. Born February 22, 1966 in St. Louis, Missouri to Calvin T. and Margaret White, Toni was a firecracker and one of the brightest lights anyone had the pleasure of knowing. She lit up every room she entered, no matter how long she inhabited the space. Her sass and positivity brought a smile to the face of anybody she spoke to and we know that the list of people that felt her impact is immeasurable and miles long. Many people won’t get the chance to be loved by someone like Toni in their lives. Her constant dedication to serving her family and providing them the best love and unmatched support came second nature to her. It’s hard to convey in words just how important family was to Toni, so instead we just think back and remember how powerful it felt to call her family and we wear that title like a badge of honor. For many, actions like hers would be hard work. For her, it was effortless. It was never a question of if she was going to be there for you – it was when and with what amount of jokes she’d bring along with her as she held your hand. Her mother said it best: “You know who she loved the most? Whoever needed it most at the time.” Toni’s love for people was so strong that she had to spread it far beyond just her family. She found the perfect career as a labor and delivery nurse and for 20 years, she loved on every new mother and baby who had the pleasure of sharing a room with her. As a nurse since 2007 at her second home, Deaconess Women's Hospital, one of her favorite pastimes was laughing with her fellow nurses and dear friends. She always said “I have the best job in the world” and her love for the work showed in everything she did. To say there’s a void in our lives now that Toni is no longer with us, is an understatement, but her presence and her memory will keep us company until we get to see her again, in a field of sunflowers next to a motorcycle asking us to hop on, go to the nearest beach and shop for quilts and antiques. We are all going to miss her terribly, but feel peace knowing that her pain is gone and that we’ve gained a vivacious and stunningly beautiful guardian angel to look over us. Her favorite quote is one that shows her can-do attitude and ability to make the best out of any less-than-ideal hand dealt her way: “Forget the potholes in the road and celebrate the journey instead.” We’re thankful you were a part of our journey, Toni. Toni was preceded in death by her father, Calvin White; and nephew, Lee Mundwiller. She is survived by her loving husband, Steve French whom she constantly doted on and admired; her daughter, Jodi Geeslin (Derek), and son, Jai Ganapathy (Jessica); mother, Margaret White; sisters, Tommi White and Tina Mundwiller (Glenn); Steve’s daughter, Megan French and her children, Terence, Maliyah, Adrian and La’nyah; and 4 nieces. A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2021 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road. Friends may visit Friday from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. before the service. A burial will be held at a later date to be determined at South Fork Cemetery in Santa Fe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Evansville Food Pantry or Alzheimer’s Foundation, two organizations near and dear to the forever giving heart of Toni.
