

Vangie Marie Phillips, 94, of Evansville, IN went to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Braun’s Nursing Home. She was born in Gibson County, IN on April 7, 1924 to the late Claude and Mary Elizabeth (Thacker) Worman.
Vangie rode a horse and buggy to Memorial Baptist Church as a youth. Her uncle, Steve Thacker, would take her. She attended Owensville high School. Vangie was married to McCoy at 17 – lasting 69 years. McCoy was a WW II Veteran, and through his many years in the U.S. Navy, she and her children traveled many places, moving back to Evansville in 1953. She attended the All City Bible Class and the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) at Christian Fellowship Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband McCoy E. Phillips and four siblings.
Vangie is survived by her daughter, Lois Way (Bill); son, Dan Phillips (Rita); grandchildren, Jeffrey Thaxton, Tina Thaxton, Amy Thaxton (Melanie), Stacie Neuhoff (Steve), and Todd Phillips (Stephanie); 14 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; brother, Bill Worman.
Vangie’s family extends a special thank you to the staff at Braun’s Nursing Home and Kindred Hospice for their care and compassion.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel, with burial to follow at Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit 2-4 p.m. Sunday March 3, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel and Monday 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
