After she moved to Evansville, IN to work at Mead Johnson, Virginia married Walter Swope. They had a strong and loving marriage and raised two children, taking yearly trips, showing them the country. She also created a successful business as a cosmetician. She spent countless hours caring for elderly family members selflessly. Unfortunately, Virginia lost Walter early, but she didn’t stop living. In her later years, she continued her quest to travel, dance, and enjoy life. While she wasn’t a conventional mother or grandmother, she was a passionate woman who took joy in sharing her journeys and cooking wonderful meals for her loved ones. Virginia was the embodiment of a generous spirit, taking her family and friends to enjoy in her experiences such as traveling to her home in Florida. She was a wonderful, feisty, beautiful woman who would help those in need, even when telling them what they could do differently. Her generosity will continue to be an inspiration to the people that she touched. Her family will miss her greatly but remain comforted that she lived a long, fulfilling life. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; brother, Jimmy; and sisters, Margaret, Mary, and Dorothy Nell.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki and her husband, Chick; son, Wally; grandchildren, Chad, Eric, Jackie, Joe, Heather, Alison, and Kyle; several great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen, Margie, Peggy, and Linda.
