

William “Bill” Thomas Bell, 76, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 1, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Bill was born to William and Lois (Rudd) Bell on April 26th 1941 and was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charlie and Joe Bell; and a sister, Dean McQueen.
Bill is survived by his husband of 18 years, Tony Bell; his beloved niece, Pam Meece (Mitch), who was more like his daughter, along with many other nieces and nephews.
Bill enjoyed deep and loving friendships throughout his life, and leaves to mourn his longtime friend, Bill Hutton. Bill enjoyed visits from friends and family during his illness.
Bill enjoyed hosting elegant parties at the many historic homes he had owned and restored. He was a gifted decorator. He loved all animals and had many during his lifetime. Special pets he connected with were Buffy, Rupert, Lucy, Lady Bell, Mr. Kitty, his three turtles and a bird.
He graduated from Bosse High School, and enjoyed his classmates. Bill worked as a window designer at Schears Department Store and Sater's Men's Clothing Store in Evansville, and then at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. He owned and operated Scotties lounge and Hillbillies restaurant. He also enjoyed working in his yard and loved plants and flowers. His landscaping was unique and he hosted several weddings for close friends and family.
A man of eloquence and quick wit, he will be missed for his sense of humor and his love of life. Bill was a very caring, loving, and generous person, who will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be Wednesday 4:00-8:00 PM and Thursday 9:00 AM-8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel on Lincoln Ave. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday at Center of Hope Church in Evansville. There will be visitation at the church from 9:00-11:00 AM before the services. Envelopes will be available for memorial contributions at the funeral home.
