Aase Synnove Iverson of Everett, Washington passed away peacefully on July 20, 2011. She was born November 26, 1922 to Ragnvald and Ingeborg Hansen of Drammen, Norway. Aase arrived in the United States in January, 1950 after crossing the North Atlantic from Oslo aboard the Stavangerfjord. She worked as a domestic for several prominent Midwestern families before continuing west and settling in Everett, where she met and married Halvor P. Iverson, her husband of nearly 40 years. Halvor preceded her in death in May, 1996.
Aase was a devoted mother and grandmother whose family was her priority. She enjoyed cooking and baking, working in her garden, and needlecrafts. She was a member of Central Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway. Aase was proud of her Norwegian heritage, and her family loved to hear stories of life in Norway and her experiences as a newcomer in the United States.
She is survived by her brother, Ivar Rolf Hansen (Rakel) and family of Drammen, Norway; sons Gary (Barbara) Iverson and Glenn (Marlene) Iverson; grandchildren Ryan, Aaron (Melissa), Jacob and Hannah Iverson; and great-grandchildren Addison, Logan, Nora, and Wyatt Iverson.
A family graveside service will be held at Cypress Lawn cemetery in Everett at 11:00 am, on July 27, 2011. Following will be a memorial and celebration of Aase’s life at 2:00 pm at South Pointe Assisted Living, 10330 Fourth Avenue West, Everett, WA 98204.
