Our mom, Anna Nichol, passed away November 24, 2010 at the age of 90 in Everett, WA. Born the youngest of four daughters to George and Adah Bruce on September 1, 1920 in Lynden, WA. Mom was preceded in death by her sisters, Marjorie Stott, Frances Todd and Georgia Minner.
As a young woman, Mom moved to Seattle to attend school and work in her grandfather's shoe repair shop in Lake City. There she met and married our father, Homer Nichol. They were life-time partners for 65 years and blessed with three daughters.
We moved to Kent and then to Mukilteo. Over the course of her life, Mom proved to be devoted to her husband and family; to be a good friend and mentor. She built upon her personal interests as a business woman and adventurer. She will be remembered as the first woman bus driver for Mukilteo School District; the lady cobbler who started Mukilteo Shoe Rebuild; the woman on the motorcycle. Mom was " up with the chickens" to run our small family farm. She loved growing vegetables; planted a garden every spring into her 90th year. She was a self-taught banjo player; and avid tennis fan; rode the rapids in Alaska.
Since the passing of our dad in June 2006, Mom has been found reminiscing over her travel diaries, talking freely about their times together. She looked forward to their reunion. The family they look back on is:
Daughters: Judi Johnson, Penny Medica and Caron Dahlin (Gene); grandchildren: Shelley Hale (Michael), Kimberly Yantis (Pat), Tony Johnson, Denny Roberts (Laura), Korie Burgess (Don); great- grandchildren: Curtis and Christopher Ruthruff, Jamie Yantis, Erica and Alyssa Ottinger, Anthony and Nicholas Burgess; great-great- grandchildren: Angelina and Thyearra, Dominic and Donovan.
Anna Nichol, awesome woman, this is your legacy: You have left a profound and precious imprint on those you touched ... memories in abundance to treasure.
Our Mom, We Miss You, We Love You.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett.urdy & Walters with Cassidy Funeral Home, Everett, WA.
