Mary Hood

Mary Hood [McGee] was born on May 31, 1951 to Fred and MaryLou McGee [Sullivan] in Chicago, IL. She came to know the lord and a young age and was baptized at Greater Harvest Baptist Church on the city’s south side.

In the early 1960s, the family relocated to the Morgan Park neighborhood. Mary attended Shoop Elementary School and Morgan Park High School where she met Irman Webb, her future husband.

In 1969, Mary and Irman married and shortly thereafter moved to Gary, Indiana. In 1976, the couple added a son to the family and named him Irman Webb, IV. Mary and Irman divorced in the early 80s, but remained close friends. Throughout the mid-1980s to mid-1990’s Mary was married to Tommie Hood. After their separation Mary devoted her time to cosmetology, and taking care of her elderly father and mother.

God called Mary home on September 23. Mary was a survivor and had endured many illnesses including cancer and lupus. She is at rest now, and her legacy will continue through her son, grandsons, and extended family.

She is survived by her Mother MaryLou McGee, Mother-in-law Hazelteen Webb; siblings Betty, Ann, Delores, Freddie, and Luke; son Irman Webb, IV; daughter in law Toya Webb [Allen]; grandsons Irman Xavier (17), Isaiah (14), Caleb (2) & a host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

She is preceded in death by her father and first husband.
