He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Porter; parents; and 2 brothers, Cecil and John. Benjamin is survived by his daughters Dianne (Frank) Martone of Bellport, New York and Nancy (Duane) Weaver of Fairborn, sons Frank (Molly) Porter of Rochester, New York and Jim (Betty) Porter of Manhattan, Kansas; 23 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Clifford (Shirley) Porter of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Elva Lou Craig, his loving companion for the last 6 years; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all who love him. His Air Force career spanned 29 years, including a tour in Vietnam. After retirement, he worked an additional 15 years as a civil servant of the US Government. Benjamin was a true patriot who loved God and country.
Friends may call on Friday, April 5, 2019, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home, 119 E. Main St., Fairborn, Ohio, where a celebration of his life will follow at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 10:00 AM at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 954 N. Maple Ave., Fairborn, Ohio, with Rev. Charles F. Lang, Celebrant. Interment at Fairfield Cemetery.
