

Jay A. Collins, age 75, of Centerville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Liberty of Washington Township. He was born the son of Claude W. & Della (Schildknecht) Collins on August 12, 1940 in Dayton. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce A. (Collins) Blair, and a brother-in-law Fred L. Blair. Jay is survived by daughter: Diane M. Mescher and devoted friend, Paul Tambe of Centerville, son and daughter-in-law: Douglas A. and Kelly (Brickler) Collins of Bellbrook, grandchildren: Natalie M. Mescher, Andrew J. Mescher, Colleen F. Mescher and Ryan W. Collins, niece: Kim B. O’Loughlin, nephew: Kelly B. Blair and wife Martha Blair, great nieces: Elizabeth Sorrell and Bethany Blair, great nephew: Michael O’Loughlin, former wife, devoted friend and mother of his children, Mary F. Wicker. Jay was very proud of his family and devoted his entire life to them. Family gatherings were very special to him. His wittiness and ability to make people laugh will be missed. He enjoyed a long career in the travel industry. Hawaii was among one of his favorite places. His interests included sports, travel, trivia and coin collecting. He loved coffee and conversation. Among many of his strong qualities was organization and attention to detail. Family extends heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers for the past 12 years at Liberty of Washington Township. In addition, the family wishes to acknowledge Jay’s many friends who provided their support.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Burcham Jennings Funeral Home, 119 E. Main St. Fairborn, Ohio 45324 on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 4-6 PM. Memorial services will follow at 6PM with Pastor Ken Majors, officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.BurchamJennings.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jay’s name to National Stroke Association.
