

Reba Harris Hammond (affectionately known as Shu-Shu) went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2012 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born on January 16, 1926 to Ferris and Lucy Harris in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Reba married George Fowler Hammond on March 7, 1946. They were married for over 50 years until George passed away in 1997. Reba was preceded in death by her parents; husband George, brother James Harris and sister Jerona Fenner. She is survived by son James (Pat) Hammond of Centerville, daughter JoAnn (Fred) Whitt of Fairborn with whom she resided for the last 15 years and daughter Joy (Jim) Turner of St Petersburg,Fla., Grandchildren Matthew Hammond (Violet Schmitz), Michelle (Brian) Schaffer of Moraine, Tony (Kristin) Whitt of Fairborn, Tara Whitt( Ryan Schiewetz) of Dayton, Betsy Turner (Bryan Thieibold) of Chicago & Brittany Turner of Florida. Great grandchildren include Joseph & Michael Schaffer, Mary, Isabella & Caleb Whitt, & Ryden Krause.
Reba loved listening to Gospel quartets and especially The Gaithers. She was a member of Maple Ave. Church of God in Fairborn. She loved her family & special friends and always appreciated those who came to visit and spend time with her. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought her great joy. Everyone who knew her enjoyed her quick wit and sense of humor. There will always be a hole in our hearts without our Shu-Shu. Friends may call in the Maple Avenue Church of God, 1352 S. Maple Dr. Fairborn, Ohio on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 6 to 8PM where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 10AM with Pastor James Clayton, officiating.
