Charlotte Jane Miller, 79, of Fairdale gracefully whispered her final eternal earthly breath on February 9, 2018 while embracing her family. Charlotte was born in Louisville, KY on July 16, 1938 and was the only child of her parents Sim W. Hutton & Carrie Elizabeth (Sheehan) Hutton.
Charlotte met her one & only true love, Donald Lee Miller while they were students at Southern High School. The couple married in 1957 and were together for over 60 years when death caused them to part in this world. Her smile will lift us forever. Charlotte was ahead of her time in being a mother to her two sons, Donald L. Miller II & Daniel Dale Miller, and a wife to the love of her life. She did it all, from President of the Fairdale PTA to her ceramic classes. She loved her vacations with her family to the beaches of Florida, the Black Hills of South Dakota, California, Yellowstone National Park and Hawaii among other places.
She provided for her family by driving a school; bus for over 4 decades for the Jefferson County Schools. Her determination to do her job keep her on track through the turmoil of the beginning of desegregation related busing in 1976 even when threatened by adults and having crosses burned in her yard. She knew the kids were her "precious cargo" with no bad feelings in their hearts. Her family joked that her bus driver related experiences along with her deep faith as a member of the Church of Christ guaranteed her the "express elevator" to Heaven.
Charlotte is survived by her loving husband for over 60 years, Don, sons, Donnie (Michelle) Miller & Daniel (Tina) Miller. She also leaves her grandchildren, Cortney Miller, Carrie Miller, Sophie Miller & Danny Miller , Britney Miller & Shelby Miller.
Visitation will be 12-2 PM Tuesday February 13, 2018 at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home with a service at 2PM. Burial in My Holly Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request remembrances in the form of donations to Blessings in a Backpack. (www.blesiings in a blessings.org) which mobilizes individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children (her precious cargo in Louisville & across the USA.
