

DOYLE SR, LUCIAN SMITH, 97, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Baptist Hospital East. He was a native of Hart County, Kentucky. Lucian was a World War II veteran, serving honorably and well in the Army Air Force, as a member of the 13th Jungle Air Force in the South Pacific theatre. He was a 76-year member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky, life member of the Scottish Rite 32° and a Master Mason of Fairdale Lodge 942. Following his military service, Lucian served as Chair of Jefferson County Zoning Board and a retired Chief Appraiser for the Veterans Affairs Loan Guarantee Division of Kentucky. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. Lucian was an owner, operator of Masonry Supply and Doyle Real Estate. He later served as an officer at Doyle Distributors, Inc. Lucian was married for 58 years to Helen Louise, who preceded him in death (2004). Lucian is survived by three sons, Lucian S. Jr. (Pat), Kenneth M. and Michael J. (Melissa) Doyle, and four grandchildren, Christopher Michael (Crystal), Susan, Evan and Emily Doyle and two great grandchildren, Annaleise and Xavier Doyle. He is also survived by two nieces, Joy Powell and Sonja Gordon and a nephew, Elvis Doyle. The visitation will take place from 3:00-8:00 pm on Monday, August 9, 2021 and from 9:00-11:30 am on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home (411 Fairdale Road). A service to celebrate Lucian’s life will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:30 am with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Lucian received excellent care from Baptist East Palliative Care Unit and Hosparus, which was much appreciated by his surviving family.
