

He was born February 17, 1939 in Claremont, New Hampshire and was the son of Frank Wolcott Plumb and Rubie Louise Hodgdon-Plumb. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sherry Ann Plumb and his two sons, Keith Dean Plumb (Jill) of Overland Park, Kansas & Mark Steven Plumb (Paula) of Vienna, Virginia. Benjamin was one of three children who included his older brother David Plumb of National City, California and his younger sister Judy Ordway of Poland, Maine. He was Grandfather to eight grandchildren, and is also survived by five nieces and two nephews.
His childhood years were spent in Ascutney, Vermont. He then moved on to graduating from Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. He completed his Masters Degree in 1963 from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Benjamin began his professional career as a Pastor in Upstate New York followed by an Associate Pastor at Sligo Seventh Day Adventist Church in Takoma Park, Maryland and Vienna Seventh Day Adventist Church in Vienna, VA. The last years of his clergy career were spent as a Hospital Chaplain at Leland Memorial Hospital in Riverdale Park, Maryland and Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Maryland. Not one to slow down, he spent his retirement years driving for Boston Coach and enjoyed working and meeting new people on a daily basis. He loved serving his community and fostering relationships.
He always had a love for cars and shared this passion with his sons and neighbors over many decades. He was always a wealth of knowledge when it came to automotive history and loved to share it with those around him. He enjoyed time spent with family, friends and attended numerous antique car shows over the years with his 1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia and his 1965 Ford Mustang. He also had a love for animals and enjoyed the companionship of numerous dogs over the years including Lady his Golden Retriever that loved taking car rides with him over the years.
He was always one to greet others with a big smile and a warm handshake. He loved having conversations with others and did so every chance he had. He spent the majority of his life helping so many people through some of the lowest points of their lives while doing everything he could to lift up those around him that needed it. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and so many others that he has touched their lives.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Demaine Funeral Home in the City of Fairfax, followed by a luncheon at the Country Club of Fairfax.
