

Charles Spann Baumann (USMC) passed away in Holy Observance joining his wife of sixty two years, Elizabeth Miller Baumann on Monday, August 3, 2015 in the presence of family. He was the son of the late Charles Nelson Baumann (USMC) and Carolyn Spann Litaker and brother to the late Robert C Baumann (USMC) and George Allen Baumann (USMC). Charlie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in March of 1943 at the age of 18 while still a student at George Washington High School in Alexandria, Virginia. As a “China Marine” he concluded his service in March 1946 in Tientsin China after receiving a Purple Heart at the battle of Okinawa with the 1st Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force Pacific. He was a lifelong resident of Alexandria, Fairfax and Clifton, Va. He was an entrepreneur and CEO of Southern Floors and Acoustics Inc. from 1953 to 1988. He was past president of the Arlington Optimist Club and past president of The Fairfax Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by two step sons, James C. Moulton, Jr and wife Donna and Eugene F. Moulton and wife, Maryann; five grandchildren; Jeffrey, Stacy, Mona, Kenneth, Thomas; and eight great grandchildren. Services at The Fort Myer Chapel and burial in Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
