Chester “Alan” Frederick, 76, passed peacefully away on August 26, 2019 at his home surrounded by family in Fairfax, Virginia. His memorial service will be held on Friday, September 6, from one to three in the afternoon, at Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax.
Alan was born on May 18, 1943 in Rahway, New Jersey to Dorothy and Chester Frederick. He was a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and Georgetown School of Foreign Service and celebrated a successful career as a consultant, contractor, and in retirement, as a Latin teacher. He served in Vietnam during the war, and retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant. He married Sandy in 1975 and together they raised four children. As a lover of theatre and classical music, Alan, was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and always up for an argument over politics. He enjoyed good wine, the presence of his doting grandchildren, and a cool ocean breeze. He was a member of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and a pioneer of several causes to include Equal Rights for All, and Special Olympics. He is survived by his wife Sandy, four children, Gretchen (David), Brendan (Anna), Meghan (Danny), and Jonathan and eight grandchildren, Jon Paul, Luke, Meghan, Nick, Liam, Luis, Oscar, and Rizal.
