George A Breen passed away on April 8, 2016 at home in Fairfax, Va, at the age of 97. He was the son of the late George Breen and Eleanor O'Neil Breen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Kathleen, Ruth and Barbara and his brother, Robert all of New Bedford, Mass. George graduated from Holy Cross Family School where he was the editor of the school newspaper. Later he attended Becker College. In 1941 he volunteered for Army service, earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal while in the 2nd Indianhead Division in the European Theater. After leaving the army, he accepted a civil service position with the CIA where his assignments included England, Germany, Japan and The Philippines. After retiring from the CIA in 1975 he traveled extensively visiting many other countries. In addition to his wife Eleanore Kasony Breen of 69 years, George is survived by daughter Patricia, three sons George (Bob) and his wife Maryke Ten-Cate Breen, Richard and Michael; 3 grandchildren Tess, Aleta and Adam; nieces Linda Saint Aubin and Patricia Saint Aubin (and husband Ralph Greggs); sister-in-law Ruth Kasony Malley and many other relatives. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016, at 1:00 pm at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Viewing will be held from 12:00 until 12:45pm. Following the service, interment will be held at Fairfax City Cemetery.
