

Harry McCurdy Wells, 98 of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Capital Hospice in Arlington, Virginia. Mr. Wells was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 7, 1916. He was a retired U.S. Army CWO-4 and WWII veteran, where he served in the Pacific. He also served overseas in Ethiopia, Japan, and Germany. He was retired from the American Red Cross where he served two tours in Vietnam. Mr. and Mrs. Wells settled in Springfield, VA in 1963 after being transferred to Pentagon while on active duty. He is survived by three children, Michael (Jean) of Evergreen, CO, Patricia Cooney of Springfield, Ree Czajkowski of Boston, MA, and daughter-in-law, Leslie Mary Wells of Saint Marys, GA; 6 grandchildren: Julie, Jennifer, Christopher, Dane, and Catherine; 2 great grandchildren: Thomas and Peyton. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty B. Wells; son, Richard Wells; and two grandchildren, Scott and Ana Marie. Harry and Betty also leave behind a host of friends from all over the world who will miss them. A funeral mass will be said for both Betty B. and Harry M. Wells at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Annandale, VA at a later date, with interment to follow in Arlington National Cemetery.
