

Nawal J. Ayyash (Saah), age 77, died peacefully on Sunday January 3, 2016, at Cherrydale Health Center, in Arlington, VA. Nawal was born on July 29, 1938, in Ramallah, Palestine, to parents Hannah D. and Nabiha H. Saah.
Nawal attended Ramallah Secondary School for Girls and was a proud member of the Girl Scouts. She married Hanna Eid Ayyash, in 1959 and immigrated to the United States in 1960. She proudly supported family businesses with her husband and was mother to Rema, Joanne and Eddie. Nawal was a talented artist, cook, seamstress and homemaker.
Nawal is survived by her son, Eddie Ayyash of Ashburn VA , and her two daughters Rema Smith and Joanne Heaton of Fairfax VA.; two sons-in-law Keith Smith and Jeff Heaton; three grandchildren, Sarah Nawal Heaton, Ryan Jeffrey Heaton and Hannah Marie Smith; three brothers, David Saah, Adeeb Saah and Nabil Saah and her sister Hala Ayoub. Her other sister Suad J. Peter (Butros) passed away in 2014. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service will be held at Demaine Fairfax Funeral Home on Friday, January 8 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Fairfax City Cemetery. There will be a reception with light refreshments served at the funeral home following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, a non tax deductible donation can be made to Cherrydale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center c/o Residence Council Fund which will help offset expenses for residence with no financial resources to attend field trips.
