Louise was the devoted wife of the late Clayton Reed Finch, the love of her life, with whom she shared nearly 47 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and togetherness.
She was a proud and loving mother to Robert Alan Finch (d. 2001), J. Marie Finch (d. 1973), Jennifer Finch Robitaille (Jacob), and Jeanine Noel Finch (Ivan Solis Jr.).
Louise was a cherished grandmother to Cameron, Chandler, Renee, Jasmine, Leah, and Matthew. Being “Grandma” was one of her most treasured roles, and she found her greatest joy in simply being surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Yonkers, New York, Louise grew up in a loving household that shaped her into the warm, generous, and family-centered woman she became. She carried those values throughout her life, always making space for gatherings, celebrations, and quiet moments together.
She was a graduate of Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, where she earned a degree in education. Over the years, she lived in Southern California and Michigan before settling in Woodbridge, Virginia, where she raised her family. In Woodbridge, she provided childcare for countless families, most especially cherishing the time she spent caring for her grandchildren. She later worked at Kohl’s for 14 years before retiring in 2017 and moving to Massachusetts to be closer to her family.
Louise’s favorite place was Bass Lake in Michigan, where she created lasting memories with her family. She especially loved being there in August, the month she celebrated her birthday, Clay’s birthday, and their wedding anniversary together - moments that brought her immense joy year after year.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
Louise will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth, and her unmistakable laugh.
A service to celebrate Louise’s life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Waring-Sullivan Fairlawn, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, Massachusetts with a service at 12:15 PM. A luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Louise’s memory by performing an act of kindness for someone in need.
