Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Antone and Beatrice (Gonsalves) Fernandes she was a lifelong area resident. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. She was a faithful steward of the church. Janice worked as an executive secretary at Goodyear.
Janice was a loving woman who loved life and did her best to live each day to the fullest. She loved music, dancing, cooking. She loved to travel. She was a true crafter. Her favorite being bird carving. She made many beautiful birds. She was a dedicated daughter as her mother aged. Caring for her to the very end. Janice loved all her nieces and nephews. Always proud to share all of their accomplishments with her friends. She was a true friend to all she knew.
Her family and friends feel blessed to have known her.
She is survived by a sister, Vivian Lewis of Fairhaven; a brother, Anthony D. Fernandes and his wife Christel of Germany; nieces, Heidi J. Lewis of Philadelphia, PA and Regina Kelly of Andover; and a nephew, Peter Fernandes of Austin, TX. She leaves behind several great-nieces and nephews as well as many loving members and dear friends.
Her visitation will be Friday, May 21, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, MA 02719. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rt. 6, New Bedford.
