Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret (Sweeney) Fletcher, she was a longtime resident of Fairhaven. She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, class of 1949. She also graduated from Thibodeau Business College.
Joan loved her family dearly especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She was a devout wife and mother above all else. She attended Bible class at St. Joseph’s Church and enjoyed attending ceramic class. Joan’s greatest joy was spending summers at Chase’s Beach with her friends.
She is survived by her children Marc P. Charette and his companion Heidi Gammell of Falmouth, Thomas W. Charette of New Bedford, Daniel J. Charette and his wife Jo-Anne of Fairhaven, Steven M. Charette and his Wife Debora of CA, Edward J. Charette and his wife Bernadette of Fairhaven, Timothy D. Charette and his wife Charlene of Fairhaven and Susan M. Savoie and her husband Enoch of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Melissa, Amy, Marc, Sara, Kaleigh, Hannah, Maria, Kara, Daniel, Alexandra, Danielle, Max and Cameron; and her great-granddaughter Gracyn; her siblings, Bernard and John Fletcher, Ann Whalen and Margaret Grant; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ralph, Paul and William Fletcher.
Joan’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 10:00AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 74 Spring Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
