John F. Bissonette, 86, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a long illness. He was the husband of June E. (Carlin) Bissonette with whom he shared 60 years of marriage on September 16th.
Born in Boston, son of the late Francis and Helen (Moran) Bissonette, he was raised in Dorchester, lived in Easton, Yarmouth and Bourne before moving to Fairhaven recently.
He was a graduate of Brockton Business School. Mr. Bissonette proudly served in the United States Navy as a torpedo man’s mate aboard the USS Charles R. Ware destroyer during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal.
Mr. Bissonette had a successful career as an accountant working for Faded Glory and New England Copper Roof Corp.
John loved the sport of hockey. He played for the Springfield Indians and coached for the Easton Junior Hockey League and Oliver Ames High School. He enjoyed golf trips with his sons and loved his dog Molly.
Surviving in addition to his wife June, are three sons, Shawn Bissonette and his partner Kiana Bourgeois of Pocasset, Peter Bissonette and his wife Maria of Fairhaven and Andrew Bissonette and his wife Jamie of N. Dighton; five grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey, Kiley, Alissa and Cole. He was predeceased by two siblings, Mark and Maryann Bissonette.
