John G. Soares, Jr.

Born in New Bedford, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He attended high school in New Bedford. He served in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the fishing industry on the New Bedford waterfront and by Titleist for 15 years. John was an avid motorcyclist, enjoyed hunting, fishing and searching for treasures with his metal detector.

He is survived by two brothers Michael Soares and his wife Kristen of East Freetown and Daniel A. Soares and his wife Patricia of Fairhaven; two sisters, Rosemarie Houghton and Margaret G. Soares both of Fairhaven and many, many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Bert G. Soares and Fred G. Soares.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven. Relatives and friends are invited.
