Roberta (Sibor) Braley, 92, of Fairhaven, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Alden Court. She was the wife of the late Eli G. Braley, Jr., mother of the late Eli G. Braley, III and sister of the late David W. Sibor.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Robert and Ellen (Tinkham) Sibor, she was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven.
Mrs. Braley received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Lesley College and later in life earned her diagnostician teaching certification.
She had a successful and rewarding career as a special education teacher for the Town of Fairhaven. She proudly drove the mobile classroom bus assisting students in need.
Roberta was a longtime member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Eta Chapter, and held numerous executive board offices including past president. She was also past president of the Fairhaven Historical Society, a Fairhaven town meeting member and member of the Whaling Museum. She was an avid golfer and member of the Country Club of New Bedford and Reservation Golf Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Potter of Fairhaven; three grandchildren, Eli G. Braley, IV, Amy Dawicki and Adam Braley; her great granddaughter, Eleanor Dawicki; beloved niece, Martha Worley; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 9-11 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the DKG Literacy Fund, c/o 83 Oakland St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
