Roger M. Chouinard, 90, of New Bedford passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa (Thomas) Chouinard with whom he would have celebrated 67 years of marriage in July.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Henry and Lucille (Doyle) Chouinard he grew up there and lived most of his life in New Bedford. He was a communicant of the former St. James Church.
Roger served in the United States Army and later worked as an engineer for the Telephone Company. Mr. Chouinard was very active and was the former president of the St. Vincent de Paul at St. James Church. He had a beautiful singing voice and also was a member of the church choir. Spending time with family was the most important to him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lisa A. Chouinard of Dartmouth, Lynne Tavares and her husband Charles of Hamden, CT, Mark Chouinard and his wife Kimberly of Fairhaven, and Paul Chouinard and his companion Bruce Peoples of Tiverton, RI; grandchildren, Alexander Tavares, Victoria Sousoulas, Stephanie A. Fonseca, Caitlin Chouinard, and Nicholas Chouinard; great grandchildren, Myles Lopes and Aaliyah Fonseca. He was the father-in-law of the late David Pelletier.
His services are private and under the direction of Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
