Anna and her husband the late Charles Barker moved to Akron, Ohio in 1945. Anna retired from Kent State University in the late 70’s. Anna dedicated a substantial portion of her life serving God, family, and the community. Anna was an exceptional, dedicated and loyal servant at St. Ashworth Temple Church of God in Christ since the early 1950’s under the leadership of Bishop C.A. Ashworth. Anna faithfully served over the years in the choir, usher board, hospitality, missionary department, and more. She also served as the President of the missionaries department and dedicated many years as the chairperson for St. Ashworth Temple’s Annual Women’s Day committee which she enjoyed. Anna continued the rich legacy of love, service and commitment from previous church mothers, missionaries, and leaders under the leadership of Pastor Robert Earl DeJournett.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents Lizzy and Garmin Sr, husband Charles Barker, granddaughter Deborah Fann, her brothers Garmin Robinson Jr., James Robinson, and Moles A Robinson all of Akron and her sisters, Daisy Robinson of Indianapolis, Indiana and Mattie Robinson of Columbus, Georgia. Anna is survived by daughter Annie Fann, seven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and 38 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Service will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 at Noon, St. Ashworth Temple Church of God in Christ, 1086 Vernon Odom Blvd., Akron, Ohio 44307, Elder Clearance Steadman Jr. officiating. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may visit at the church from 11 a.m. until Noon. Procession will be announced and condolences may be sent to 872 Valdes Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320.
