

Barbara was very smart, demonstrating her intelligence at an early age. She was the “Spelling Bee” Champion in grade school, going on to compete on live television.
Barbara graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a bachelor’s degree in education, specializing in English. She taught grade school before working in Procurement for the federal government.
Barbara met Jerry at church (after being introduced to him “by her mother”, Norma). Their love for each other grew, and she married the love of her life in February 1963. To their union, two sons were born.
Most importantly, Barbara loved Jesus. She taught Sunday School at the 1st Baptist Church in Troy, Illinois. She instilled her faith in her children, often sacrificing to have them attend Christian school.
Barbara enjoyed watching old movies and playing trivia at Meridian Village. She loved her family, and cherished spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Ray D. Glascock and Norma Glascock; stepfather, Floyd Barnett; and grandson, Joseph Bourland.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Jerry Bourland; sons, Brad (Tami) Bourland and Bruce Bourland; grandchildren, Bradley (Sydney) Bourland, Brett Bourland, and Brock Bourland; brothers, Don Glascock, Dave (Julie) Barnett, Craig Barnett, Rod Barnett, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for Barbara will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm, followed by the committal at Lake View Memorial Gardens, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
