

Betty earned a Bachelor of Science from Washington University, a Masters Degree in Nursing from Washington University and a Doctorate in Philosophy Education from St. Louis University and was a former professor of Nursing at SIUE, former Director of the Continuing School of Nursing Education at SIUE, a member of Sigma Theta Tau, and was a; pianist, artist, soloist, Girl and Boy Scout troop leader, preschool teacher, and proud mother to 12. She had many interests and hobbies including; genealogy, cooking, reading, needle work of all types, and cross word puzzles. Betty pursued a lifetime of education and dedicated her life to the care and education of others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Walker, her parents; Leonard and Marie, nee Green, Boyd, a son, Gene Walker, and two grandchildren; David and Jacob.
Surviving are her children; Nelda (John) Borowy, Karol (Ben) Morgan, Susan Stropes, Steven (Jeannie) Walker, Lisa (Steven) Blakeley, Jane (Greg Jannick) Brown, Timothy (Lori) Walker, Claudia (Marcellus) Mosely, Julia-Li (Richard) Burgess, Jeremy (Rebecca) Walker, and Meagen (James) Overby, her grandchildren; Heather, Todd, Shannon, Sean, Barbara, John, Katherine, Patrick, Nicholas, Stacey, Matthew, Elise, Courtney, Joshua, Erik, Sara, Jessica, Marcellus II, Portia, Travis, Kyle, Richard, Sydney, Byron, Benjamin, Caleb, James Jr., Noah, Aliya, Titus, Sophia, Lily, and one yet to be born, many great grandchildren, a brother, James (Mary Ann) Boyd, two sisters; Fairy (Glenn) Meek and Ellen Manning, daughter-in-law, Connie Walker, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
