Bob grew up with Baptist faith, having accepted Jesus as his personal savior at an early age. He taught Sunday School and was a home meeting leader. He was a deacon at Full Gospel Tabernacle. Bob was also a coach for the girls’ softball team.
Bob received his mechanical engineering degree from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, MO, and began working at Granite City Steel immediately after completing graduation. He continued his studies at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, where he earned his MBA.
Bob loved fishing and pheasant hunting as well as vacationing at Walt Disney World. Later in life he took up the art of photography. He also enjoyed fishing and learned how to catch bait fish, while on a fishing trip to the Florida Keys, by casting a net in shallow water. He and the guide then went on to fish in the back country of the Everglades for Snook. He was so proud of the tarpon fish he caught near Islamorada, FL.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Wessell) Holland; sister-in-law, Cathy Ulrich; brother-in-law, Chuck (Missy) Wessell; nieces, Cyndi Blalock, Chrissy Ulrich, Aleena Wessell, Lydia (Dave) Ingram; one great-niece, Caroline Blalock; one great-nephew, Ben Blalock; cousins, Kenny (Pam) Kirkman, Shirley Thurston, Linda Ann (Harold) Simpson and Charlotte Hunt.
He was preceded by his parents and stepparents, James (Virginia) Holland and Ruth (Roye) Macherey.
There will be a visitation at Lake View Funeral Home on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. There will be a service immediately following 1:30 PM. Bobbie will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM.
