Charles Edward Hahl, 79, of Belleville, IL, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at his residence in Belleville, IL. He was born July 10, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to Harry and Viola (Shepeard) Hahl. He married Bonnie Cornwall on June 17, 1965 in Phoenix, AZ. Together they shared 54 years of marriage before her passing on October 9, 2019.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Viola Hahl; and two brothers, Harrison Hahl and Richard Hall.
Charles is survived by his two sons, James E. Hahl of Carrabelle, FL and Adam Levy (fiancé, Melanie Newman) of Collinsville IL; one grandson, Ryan Newman; siblings, Shirley Toth of St. Louis, MO, Dorothy Beam and Edward Hahl, both of Arizona; and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles and Bonnie were devoted members of Alpha & Omega Christian Fellowship and helped selflessly for many years with the State Park Food Pantry.
Charles worked and retired as a switchman for Terminal Railroad in Madison, IL for many years. He loved baseball, St. Louis Blues Hockey, cars, motorcycles, doing yardwork and cooking. He loved all animals, especially his faithful companion, Chase. Above all else, Charles was a deeply devoted husband to Bonnie and wonderful father to his two sons, Jim and Adam. His family brought him joy in all of his days. He lived a wonderful life, filled with faith, generosity and a compassion for others that will never be forgotten.

Visitation: A visitation will be held on 4:00 pm.- 8:00 pm on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL, 62208
Funeral: A funeral will be held on Saturday, May 8, 20121at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Ron Habermehl will officiate. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
