Charles Schmidt

Charles was preceded in death by his dear wife, Patricia Schmidt, and by his parents, LeRoy and Frieda Schmidt, and his sister who died in infancy, Ruth Ann Schmidt.

Surviving are his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren: Melodee DeVuyst and family—Sara (Richard III) Morris, Rachael & Richard IV and Jeffrey DeVuyst; Greg (Tami) Schmidt and family—Jesse (Dinia) & Mahzine and Ali (Travis) and Olivia (Trevor); Vicki Evans and family—Samantha (Rob) Shewmaker, Peyton, Joey, Charlotte, Addison & Amelia; Beth (John) Willock and family—Mathew & Charles; Nancy (Mike) Arbini and family—Jessica (Chris) Franklin, Adelyn, Emma & Cade and Adam and Dominic; Pam (Rick) Moravec and family—Ben (Andrea) Moravec, Connor & Olivia and Katie (Adam) Vishion, Natalie & Adam Jr; Mary (Mike) Menne and family—Jason (Susan) Menne, Alexandra & Evan and Jeffrey (Anna) Menne, Jeffrey II & Evelyn; Don Scott and son Brandon Scott; Jan O’Connell and family—Greg Bonifield, Josiah & Espn and Kim (Bill) Thomas, Shelby (Justin) Blanton, Paisley, Jack & Oliver and Billy & Kaylee and Adam and Ryan, Erin, Bailey, Charlotte & Bennett and Heather (Jason) Hodder, Bentley & Luke.

Charles served 2 years in the United States Army Reserves from 1957-1958. He was a dedicated worker, employed by Conalco Metal Processing for nearly 40 years. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed making furniture. Charles was a dedicated Cardinals fan, and would often be seen watching their games and wearing their memorabilia proudly. Charles would also keep a large garden and was proud of the amount of vegetables he could give to family and friends. He was an adoring husband, a loving father, a caring grandfather, and dear friend to many. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation: Will take place Monday, September 20, 2021, 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois, Fairview Heights, IL 62208.

Funeral: Services will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 10:30 am at Lake View Funeral Home Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens.
