

Curt was born March 15, 1969 in Belleville, IL to Wayne R. and Jerry (McNamara) Obst. They preceded him in death.
He married Sandra “Sandy” Obst and she preceded him in death in September of 2015. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sheryl Glen.
Surviving Curt is his son, Curtis L. Obst of Warrensburg, MO; brother, Lance (Debby) Obst of St. Petersburg, FL; nieces, Emily Obst and Amber Glen; and his dear friends, Danny Depper, Andrew Depper and Bob Johnson, all of Belleville, IL.
Curt was a true car enthusiast whose passion for engines and speed shaped every part of his life. From a young age, he found joy in taking things apart just to see how they worked, a curiosity that grew into a lifelong career as an auto mechanic. Known for his skillful hands and sharp eye, he could bring any engine back to life, and he took pride in helping others keep their cars running smoothly. Outside the shop, Curt’s love for drag racing- he lived for the thrill of the track, the roar of the engines, and the camaraderie of good friends.
For him, cars weren’t just machines; they were a way of life, a source of joy, and the heartbeat of countless memories. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation for Curt will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.
A funeral service will be held following the visitation, at 12:00 P.M. Final interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
