Debra "Debi" Ann McCarry

Debi was born February 8, 1952 in East St. Louis, IL to Edwin and Mildred (McAuliff) Long. She married John B. McCarry on June 23, 1972; he preceded her in death on July 15, 2015.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, James (Nancy) Long; nephew, Timothy Long; and her in-laws, Ray and Catherine Herren.

Debi is survived by her loving daughters, Andrea (Jason) Johnson of Mascoutah, IL, Raelyn (Bob) Clinton of Swansea, IL, and Kiki (Donny) Cavins-Meade of O'Fallon, IL; grandchildren, Jaylynn Johnson, Juliet (Jimmy) Johnson) Alyssa Johnson, Andin Johnson, Ashley (Ryan) Loeffel, Wesley Clinton, Grace Meade and Maggie Meade; great-grandson, Mason Loeffel; sister, Linda (Cliff) Benz of Belleville, IL, niece, Lisa (Tim) Long-Hodge of Fairview Heights, IL; nephew, Greg (Cindy) Long of Fults, IL; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Debi worked as a hairdresser throughout her life in many salons, sharing her talents with countless clients. Her most recent years, before her retirement were spent at Attractions Salon in O'Fallon, IL. She was often affectionately known as the "Queen of Tease" and the "Perm Perfectionist".

She loved her family dearly, especially her dearest grandchildren, “Nana” was a title she was most proud to carry. She loved bowling, dancing, playing cards, games nights and simply just being surrounded by the ones she loved the most. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A special thanks to her beloved family and granddaughters for their extra care and compassion shown to their Nana in her final days. It gave her so much peace knowing they were there by her side.

The family would also like to thank the friends and family who traveled near and far to visit Debi in the last several months. Their visits brought her hours of peace, laughter and wonderful memories shared.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

A visitation for Debi will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 4:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home, with final interment being at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
