Demona Lorene Holtkamp

Demona Lorene Holtkamp, 96, of Glen Carbon, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021. She was born on June 2, 1925 to Luie and Maude (Cochrum) Elkins. Demona married Jesse Holtkamp in April of 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. Demona was proud to be 'Rosie the Riveter' at Curtiss Wright. She was an avid BINGO player and enjoyed playing other board and card games. Skip-Bo was one of her favorite card games. Demona was a women of faith who enjoyed reading her Bible daily. She had a passion for cooking, crocheting and most recently, painting. Demona had an infectious smile and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara L. (Perry M.) Sowell; son, Jon (Tricia) Holtkamp; grandchildren, Patrick (Cherise) Sowell, Christy (Phill) Torrez, Thomas Holtkamp, Olivia Holtkamp, Tessa Holtkamp, Keri (Tony) Proffitt and Cheryl Holtkamp; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Jesse, Lucas, Brooke, Mckenna, Cole, Morgan, Kiersten, Mallory, Megan and Brooklynn; daughter-in-law, Connie Holtkamp; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Jesse; son, Gary Holtkamp; grandson, Deric Sowell and sister, Dorothea “Dot” Alexander.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jason Fishburn officiating in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment in Lake View Memorial Gardens.
