Dennis Michael Ponder

Dennis spent 40 dedicated years at PChem before retiring. During this time, he also owned and operated his own small engine repair shop in O’Fallon. His skill and passion for mechanics was exceptional, as he would spend hours tinkering, diagnosing and reviving engines. He enjoyed stock car racing and watching his sons participate. He was their biggest fan and supporter. Driving, in all forms, held a special place in Dennis’s heart. Whether he was taking a scenic drive through the countryside or simply hitting the open road, he always found adventure behind the wheel. Dennis also had an appreciation for nature as he was an avid eagle watcher and enjoyed horses. Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his sons, Cory Ponder and Dennis (Kelley) Ponder; daughter, Janice Ponder; daughter-in-law, Kasey Ponder; grandchildren, Devin and Daria Ponder, Layne and Evelynn Ponder and Kennedi and Kaden Ponder; sisters, Donna Miller and Janet Witt; numerous nieces, nephews, special friends and other extended family. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Ponder; sister, Marilyn Nance; brother-in-law, Melvin Moreland, Jerry Miller and Danny Witt.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with visitation from 11:00am until time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
